Blast off into a world of adventure at Lift Off! TMAG’s Festival for Children and Young People, from 12-17 April. Enjoy live performances, hands-on workshops, special displays and activities.
Themed as ‘to the max’, Lift Off! 2025 will explore extremes in all its many forms – from exploding volcanoes in ancient times to the spectacular Auroras of Antarctica. From the mightiest of tiny beetles to the incredible adaptations of the enormous Sperm Whale. From fire adapted landscapes to deep ocean floors, Lift Off! will have you curious and amazed.
Lift Off! Up Late
Photo-booth selfies, a silent disco, yummy snacks; galleries by torchlight. TMAG comes alive after dark for this special festival evening for young people aged 10 – 15 years.

Tickets: $15.00
- Ticket price includes a drink/snack and entry to all activities across the evening
- Patrons must be 10 to 15 years only. (No accompanying adults permitted)
- Extra drinks and eats for sale
- Compulsory sign in and sign out. No pass outs. (2 hours of parent free time, fully staffed by TMAG)

Lift Off! Sound Down Session
This booked-in session is for young people and families who may wish to engage with the festival but in a much quieter way. Enjoy some quiet time when the museum is closed. Enjoy select highlights from the festival program in a special 90 minute session.
Suitable for all ages.

About Lift Off! TMAG's Festival for Children and Young People
Lift Off! is Tasmania’s only dedicated annual cultural festival for children and young people.
Staged each year as part of the national school holiday period, Lift Off! brings alive the cultural precinct in and around the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery’s waterfront site in Hobart, for a six-day and one-evening program of engaging, educational and inspiring activities, performances and workshops.
Partnering with a wide range of allied organisations to activate TMAG and the local precinct, Lift Off! is an exciting festival program that attracts thousands of enthusiastic patrons each year.
