Hurricanes Joins TMAG Collection to Celebrate Historic BBL|14 Title Win

The Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery (TMAG) is proud to announce the addition of significant items to its collection, from the Hobart Hurricanes’ maiden BBL|14 finals-winning campaign. These items will ensure the Hurricanes' accomplishment is forever part of Tasmania’s sporting history.

Following their incredible season, Hurricanes Captain Nathan Ellis and opening batter Mitch Owen have generously donated key items from their BBL|14 journey:

  • Mitch Owen is donating the bat and gloves he used in the BBL|14 final, along with a signed Hurricanes replica miniature helmet. Mitch Owen’s batted the joint-fastest century in BBL history, equalling Craig Simmons' record from 2014.
  • Nathan Ellis is contributing a signed match-worn jersey from the BBL|14 season.

TMAG’s Senior Curator, Isobel Andrewartha, a former curator at the Australian Sports Museum and Melbourne Cricket Club Museum at the MCG, has received these items into TMAG’s collection.

This exciting addition to the museum’s collection celebrates the Hurricanes' achievements and highlights their impact on Tasmanian sport and culture.

TMAG plans to expand its collection of significant sporting items.
