Volcano Lover: a successful start to Star/Dust series

TMAG is celebrating the success of Volcano Lover, the first exhibition in the Star/Dust series.

The project team is delighted by the positive public response to Volcano Lover.

“Involvement by people of all ages is crucial to the entire Star/Dust installation series, and with Volcano Lover we managed to deliver 38 public programs,” AccessArt coordinator Bec Tudor said.

The schedule included 16 school workshops, 2 family days, and 14 volunteer-run tours.

“Rosie McKeand and artist Lucy Bleach were outstanding in delivering most of these programs, and the support of the Visitor Service Officers assisting with the exhibition was also appreciated.”

Bec said Volcano Lover received a high level of interest from arts professionals, many visiting from interstate.

Several special curatorial and artist-led tours were delivered for these groups.  

The next exhibition in the Star/Dust series is The Reading Room by Brigita Ozolins, which opens  22 July 2011.

The Reading Room will also be supported by equally exciting public programs including the ability to participate online.
