Recognising our invaluable volunteers

Volunteers lunch 2011

The director of the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery (TMAG), Bill Bleathman, has paid tribute to the volunteers that provide essential services to the Museum.

Speaking at the annual volunteers luncheon, Mr Bleathman thanked the approximately 100 men and women who provide support to all areas of the Museum operations on all sites.

He noted that TMAG's volunteers are the most diverse band of any single institution in Australia.

Examples of their contribution include the $28,000 raised by the art guides as a result of artaid@TMAG.

He also emphasised the role volunteers play in the sense of community and custodianship at the Museum.

The director also noted the contribution of volunteers was more important now than ever.
