The iRemember In the kitchen and In the shed Memory Cases are free loan resources developed through a partnership between TMAG and the Wicking Dementia Research and Education Centre in the University of Tasmania’s Faculty of Health Science. The iRemember In the shed Memory Case was funded by the Australian Government's Better Access to Palliative Care in Tasmania Program, through Palliative Care Tasmania’s 'Networking End of Life Care' Project.
The 16 objects within each case aim to assist people living with dementia and their friends, families, partners and carers to communicate more easily and enjoyably with each other. It’s about encouraging the telling of stories and the sharing of memories, using real objects to stimulate conversation and remembering.
The objects have been carefully selected and can be handled. There are cards relating to each object with additional information and discussion points which assist and encourage users to develop conversations and share experiences.
