Articulating your wishes in your Will

When deciding to leave a gift to TMAG in your Will, we recommend seeking independent professional advice from a financial adviser or solicitor, and urge you to discuss your intentions with TMAG’s Manager of Bequests and Individual Giving or Director to ensure your wishes can be honoured. If possible, it is also very important to discuss your plans with your family.

Below are different forms of testamentary gifts and ways to articulate then that you can discuss with your solicitor.

To leave a cash bequest to the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery

I give, free of all duties and taxes, the sum of ($ nominated sum) to the Board of Trustees of the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery (ABN 17 334 217 592) of 19 Davey St, Hobart. My gift is for the use and benefit of the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery at its absolute discretion. The receipt of the authorised officer shall be an absolute discharge to my executors.

To give a specified percentage/residuary estate to the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery after you have given specific bequests to others

I give, free of all duties and taxes, ($ nominated sum) to the Board of Trustees of the Tasmanian Museum and art Gallery (ABN 17 334 217 592) of 19 Davey St, Hobart. My gift is for the use and benefit of the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery at its absolute discretion. The receipt of the authorised officer shall be an absolute discharge to my executors.

Options:

  • The whole, or a specified per cent, of my estate
  • A specified per cent of capital or income arising from [insert name] charitable trust
  • The sum of [amount] dollars
  • The whole, or a specified per cent, of my estate
  • Details of particular asset (for example, a house or shares).

To leave an item, multiple items or significant collection material the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery

Please note that offers of materials and items will be assessed by our collection specialists according to the principles outlined in our Collections and Content Strategy. This ensures we do not duplicate material already held, and that we have the capacity to care for any new material we accept. We would be pleased to offer advice for the appropriate placement of items you wish to bequest that we are unable to accept.
