New visitor entrance opens at 5 Argyle Street

TMAG has re-opened its Argyle Street door as the main visitor entrance as part of its redevelopment.

The entrance at 5 Argyle Street has been altered to provide improved access including a level access ramp via the lower ground level and a lift to all floors.

From today (1 September) a large portion of the museum is closed to the public as a result of work on Stage One of the redevelopment.

However the popular Islands to Ice Antarctic exhibition remains open as do the art galleries, currently hosting the City of Hobart Art Prize and The Reading Room.

TMAG will continue with exhibitions, even with its reduced space, including Primavera and Traversing Antarctica: the Australian experience.

Public programs will also continue with the Star/Dust series and other initiatives as will the Artbikes service.

The smaller museum still provides a cafe and shop, both now located on the first floor above the Argyle Street doors.
