Photography buffs can now view the 20 photographs vying for one of the Extreme Environment Photography Competition.

The exhibition begins Tasmania’s Antarctic Centennial Year, a year-long celebration of endeavour in the Antarctic.

It marks 100 years since Douglas Mawson set off on his historic Australasian Antarctic Expedition, as well as the centenary of Roald Amundsen’s announcement from the Hobart GPO of his success of being the first man to reach the South Pole.

The exhibition is open at the Bond Store until 15 May. Admission is free.

For those who can't make it to view the exhibition, you can view the images and vote for the people’s choice prize online at www.abc.net.au/hobart.
